MIDDLE SCHOOL COMPUTER

The Middle School computer curriculum emphasizes the use of application software and the development of problem solving techniques through the use of technology. In the Computer Lab and with laptop carts, each girl learns to use computers and peripherals across the various academic disciplines and special courses. The introduction of the laptops in Group VII brings technology access to all students in all academic classes. Each teacher works with his or her students on the skills and research opportunities applicable to the discipline. In addition, appropriate etiquette on email and the Internet are considered.

Computer V:
The course begins with the introduction of touch-typing through keyboarding software. After students become proficient in using the keyboard, word processing is introduced. Students are encouraged to use their skills in all subject areas, particularly in English class, where the writing approach is essential.

Computer VI:
The students continue using the word processor in an integrated writing program within their English class. Regular access to the computer room is arranged by individual teachers.

Computer VII:
Students work once a week with a technology instructor in classes designed to build skills for using a laptop computer in the educational setting and beyond. Word processing, internet research, computer care and troubleshooting, ethics and computer use are included.

Computer VIII:
